Sand Mountain Park in Alabama Brings in $14.2 Million Within Eight Months

ALBERTVILLE, Ala.– Sand Mountain Park & Amphitheater in Albertville, Ala. has had a great year.

After opening last spring in early April, the total economic impact for the surrounding areas thanks to the park has been reported at $14.2 million.

Sand Mountain is gearing up for another great year.

General Manager Patrick O’Brien says that, “an estimated 750,000 people came and visited our park last year from opening until the late fall. That number does not include playground visitors, outdoor walking trail, outdoor basketball courts, and outdoor volleyball court visitors as well.”

O’Brien also mentions that he expects the already impressive number to increase well into this year as the facility gains more reputation in the region.

Even though the park has already hosted a variety of events including, “eight concerts, 40 sports tournaments, proms, markets for local vendors, the City of Albertville Chamber Banquet, and more. We also hosted the ARPA state championship events in swimming, basketball, and flag football.”

However, now Sand Mountain is in the big leagues. The park is set to host a softball game between Jacksonville State University and The University of Alabama on March 30th of this year.

The park also “won the bid to host the AHSAA East Regional high school softball tournament in May, which is a three-year event contract from 2022 to 2024 and will draw 50+ teams,” says O’Brien. “We will also host world series events in youth baseball and softball, as well as baseball and softball showcases. All in all, we hope to host around 25 of those tournaments each year.”
