The choice to decrease the temperature was made by the swimming pools’ state-funded operator, Berliner Bäder-Betriebe

The corporate stated it was “doing its bit” in direction of lowering German reliance on Russian fuel

Since March, anybody with a Ukrainian passport has been given free entry to Berlin’s public baths

These seeking to have a dip in Berlin’s well-known heated outside swimming pools this summer season will likely be in for a cold shock.

Water temperatures on the German capital’s 16 gas-heated lidos – or Sommerbäder – will likely be saved two levels celsius decrease than regular.

The choice to decrease the temperature was made by the swimming pools’ state-funded operator, Berliner Bäder-Betriebe (BBB), which stated it was “doing its bit” in direction of lowering German reliance on Russian fuel.

Talking to the media, a spokesperson for BBB stated: “We have now made this resolution as a result of we needed to make a contribution to the discount of fuel imports.”

It is not the one political gesture made by public leisure facility operators within the capital metropolis since Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in February.

Since March, anybody with a Ukrainian passport has been given free entry to Berlin’s public baths.
